When I bought the business from Debbie in 2013, I felt pretty confident that I could run the business.  I worked with her and watched her build the business for 6 years, I had an MBA under my belt, and I thought I was pretty realistic about what I didn’t know and would need help figuring out.

Of course, you don’t know what you don’t know, right?

I quickly learned how critical small businesses are in supporting non-profit organizations, and how much I enjoyed working with them.  They are the backbone of so many communities, and it’s amazing to see how a relatively small group of people can make such a huge impact.

Once I had kids, I knew I wasn’t able to contribute as much of my time, but I was able to continue contributing financially.

We give to various organizations throughout the year, but at the end of 2021, I decided to something a little different.

Laura, Ligia, Ash and I each chose an organization to receive a $250 donation from CCM.  I was so excited to give this opportunity to our team and to learn a little bit more about what is important to them.

Here are the four organizations that we supported recently.

Ash – Crystal Coast Young Life – Young Life is a national organization that introduces adolescents to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith.  They combine seriously fun events with faith!

Caroline – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain – I’ve written about this amazing organization before, but I am always proud to support them.  They do amazing things for kids at 17 Clubs across Eastern North Carolina.  Check out our Client Spotlight of them linked here for more information.

Laura – Outer Banks Relief Foundation – The OBRF fund helps people who are burdened with financial difficulties due to a debilitating disease or a personal tragedy to themselves or their families.  Assistance comes in the form of a mortgage or rental payment or other critical bill payments.

Ligia – Youth Services of Tulsa – YST serves homeless and at-risk youth and their families.  Among other programs, they have a shelter for youth ages 12-17, who don’t have a place to go, and they offer a transitions program to support youth ages 17-24 currently experiencing homelessness.

We’re curious.  What inspires you when making charitable donations?

Sincerely,

Caroline
